If you're picking up a new water softener or moving an existing one, you might be tempted to lay it flat in the back of your vehicle to save space.
Why It's a Bad Idea
Laying a water softener on its side is highly discouraged, especially if it's already loaded with resin. The internal distributor tube runs down the center of the resin tank. If the unit is laid flat, the heavy resin beads can shift and potentially damage or snap the distributor tube.
Keep It Upright
Always transport and store water softeners in their upright, vertical position to protect the internal components and ensure the resin bed remains properly settled.
