The elderly, young and handicapped are extremely vulnerable to scalding.
With the recent scalding of yet another person during a bath, we would like to remind people that hot water can lead to serious injury and death.
Water heaters are capable of delivering over 180 degrees F water. Water temperatures of 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) can result in second degree burns in as little as 3 seconds. If we limit the temperature to 120 degrees (49 degrees), second degree burns take 8 minutes.
We use temperature mixing valves right at the source (the water heater) so the whole house and everyone in it are protected.
We also can install improved shower valves to further reduce the risk of burns.
Call us if you would like to discuss these options.
