Dishwasher Installations & Repair
Maybe you’re finally getting that dream kitchen you’ve always wanted, along with a much quieter and energy-efficient dishwasher. Or maybe your old machine has finally given up the ghost and it’s time to replace it. Dishwashers have come a long way since the days the heave, clunk and swish noises that let you know your supper dishes were on their way to sparkling. These days, there’s no shortage of top-of-the-line models that do everything but put the cups and saucers away. Whatever your scenario, here at Instant Plumbing, we’re dishwasher pros.
Dishwasher installations – Costs, Brands and Tips
Off the top, we should tell you we can install or service any brand or model of dishwasher, with one exception – the Miele (these dishwashers are very specialized in design, and require authorized installers only.) Typical dishwasher installation costs $250 – 300, and we’ll take away the old one for you. NOTE – we do not sell dishwashers through Instant Plumbing.
Now, installing a new dishwasher isn’t rocket science, but it does require some attention to detail and the right equipment. If you’re replacing a much-older dishwasher rather than installing a new one as part of a full kitchen reno, it may also mean some new infrastructure. Older equipment like casings, fittings and tubing may need to be replaced for newer models to work. As well, many of the new dishwashers are throwing a lot less water around with a lot more oomph. If you’re not getting the water pressure you need for stemware that looks like it came off a TV commercial, you may need to investigate your venting system. There are a number of things our plumbing professionals check off their to-do lists before we consider a dishwasher job to be properly done. A little work on the front end could save you money in the long run!
When it comes to dishwashers, we’ve seen it all – puddles of water on the floor under the unit, soap suds cascading down the front, water bubbling up into the kitchen sink, dishwashers that fail to drain – you name it. In some cases, problems can be resolved quickly and simply – maybe all you really need is a change of detergent. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s a bit more involved. Once your new dishwasher has been properly installed, a lot of issues can be avoided by simple good maintenance and observing some basic guidelines. When you bring us in to install your new machine, you can count on us to walk you through the “need to knows.” We’ll show you where the shut-off is if you ever need to turn the water off in a hurry, how to properly load and clean your dishwasher and we’ll even make sure you’re using the right kind of detergent for best results. Don’t forget that in Calgary, our water is super-hard and while some of the pricier dishwashers can soften water on their own, not all brands have that capability. And after all, who wants to spend time buffing spots off the silverware?
Whatever you want to know, just ask us. We’re happy to show homeowners how they can troubleshoot their own appliances hands-on. After all, your kitchen is the centre of your home and you need a dishwasher to be a hard-working contributor. Let’s work together and keep it working right!
