“What’s it going to cost?” Of course this is the major question we’re asked, so here’s a quick overview of typical jobs, and the ranges they cost. In our industry there are typically two ways to charge: by the hour, or flat rate. Many of our competitors charge the flat rate. The problem is, the job may be a 5 minute job, or it may be 5 hours – with the vast majority being “quick fixes.” The problem is, with a flat rate, for example a $250 drain repair charge (plus extra fees), 9 times out 10 you’ll be over-charged. With an honest and fair hourly rate, you’ll be charged in proportion to the labour of the job. Another point to remember is that the qualifications of the plumber can make the job go very efficiently or very slowly. In our opinion, you’re much better off getting a well-qualified person at an hourly rate, than an under-qualified person who may need hours in your home to figure out the problem, even on a flat rate. Even with our hourly rate system, we do still give you a quotation before we start, and we bill to that quotation. NOTE: Where it states “installation,” this is a labour fee, not a product fee. If you approve the work and sign the work order, then we proceed, and bill you as quoted. If you choose not to do the work at that time, there is no charge to you for coming to your site to look at the job.
PRICING NOTE: Many of our competitors will quote you a lower price for a repair than the ranges you see here, however with our pricing you will not face extra charges on your invoice such as call-out fees or travel fees. |
